What is VATS?
Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions inside the chest, including the lungs and pleura. Instead of a large chest incision, small cuts are made, and a tiny camera (thoracoscope) guides the surgeon during the procedure.
Who Is VATS Suitable For?
VATS is ideal for patients needing chest surgery with less trauma and quicker healing.
VATS is used to:
- Remove lung nodules or tumors
- Treat collapsed lungs (pneumothorax)
- Drain fluid or infection from the chest cavity
